Hi Microsoft, I hope someone from the Vista team will read this since I only have 9 days left for activating my hard installed Windows Vista Beta 1 version on a brand new Dell Inspiron 9300 with a nVIDIA GeForce Go 6800. I managed to install Vista on a second partition and even got the Aero UX working, the primary one runs Win XP Pro SP 2 and it looks like they can live in peace side by side. My big problem now is I can't activate Windows Vista Beta 1 because I can't get my on board network interface Broadcom 440x 10/100 Intergrated Controller network adapter installed. The Vista supplimental driver setup package finds a driver for this device but when starting to install the driver, the system freezes. So I have been fishing a round the web trying to get an updated/patched version of this driver but it doesn't look there is already one out there. So I even wrote Broadcom a driver support request for this since the latest driver (4.28.0.0) downloadable from their site is not installable either, it freezes the system as well. So I always have to boot over the F8 option in safe mode and uninstall the failed driver installation and than start over. So I decided to be without a "hard" network interface for the time being and than I realized I don't have a WIFI connection available for the next 9 days! So how would I activate my version of Windows Vista Beta 1 now if I don't want to loose more than a day trying to figure out what can be installed in which order, etc. Please, give me an answer on these questions! Thanks in advanced. Regards, Andy |
