vista is crashing on bootup. sometimes it hangs with a blank screen before the login screen, sometimes i get to the login screen but then the screen just corrupts with lots of lines across it. i can boot it up in safe mode with or without networking, and with networking i get wireless access through to the internet ok. in the event viewer, i can see many error level problems: event id 4609 - com+ event system detected a bad return code. event id 7001 - lots of these for different services. i get "the dependency service or group failed to start" or "a device attached to the system is not functioning". event id 10005 - dcom error 1084 or 1068 attempting to start service. i think it's network related. network list service, tcp/ip registry compatibility service, network location awareness service, netbios, dns, dhcp services. can anyone help?? thanks ian. |
