I am struggling to identify and set the correct default program in the
control panel to open up doc files attached and sent through my windowsmail.
It prompts me to check my security settings but then says that windows
explorer can not open. I'm new to Vista Business software and would be
greatful for any speedy support, ta!

If you have the *.doc file...

"%ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe"

My Vista came with a trial version of "Word" which was set
as the default. I believe "Wordpad" should work, but you
probable could get the newest "Word Viewer" for free from
Microsoft. I like to use viewers (PowerPoint also) as default
program instead of the full blown versions for security reasons.

If your problem is in detaching the attachment, I can't help you.
