Ok so I tried to re-install vista on my laptop.... Not sure whats happening. I startup, but before I can get to the login screen, everything goes black for about a minute then I get a message exactly as follows: Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and click "Next." 3. Click "Repair your computer." If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. File: \Windows\system32\drivers\iastorv.sys Status: 0xc00000e9 Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt. NOW, I dont feel like putting up with the bull**** from the "Manufacturer" so I'm hoping someone could Help me. Would be MUCH appreciated! -- CanadianBrew |

What DVD did you use to try and reinstall Vista on your laptop? Was it one supplied by your laptop vendor or a set made by you by backing up a restore partition from your laptop to your own DVDs using a utility that came with the Laptop? You're somewhat confused, the power source feeding the power supply has nothing to do with what you can do on the machine, with the exception that some external interfaces may draw more power then the battery can supply. |

Hi, The file indicated is a controller cable driver. If you reinstall and the error still occurs, then there is a good chance that the cable is loose and needs to be reseated, or is damaged and needs to be replaced. As this is a laptop, it is recommended that you find a qualified technician to handle this. If the system is still under warranty, you'd be best to deal with the manufacturer regardless of whether or not you want to as unauthorized repairs will a) cost you money and b) may void your warranty against additional problems. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "CanadianBrew" <guest@unknown-email.com> wrote in message news:2f52317c0f83a38d0c866a1ae28a428f@nntp-gateway.com... > > Ok so I tried to re-install vista on my laptop....
