Last night when I tried watching some video news clips online I could not hear the sound because it was very, very low and I wasn't able to find anyway to increase the volume. Windows sounds seem to be normal and the Realtek HD audio control seems to be playing the test sounds correctly. I have Vista x64 on a Biostar TA770 A2+ with a Phenom 9600+ and 8GB RAM. This seems to have just suddenly happened. I did download the latest Realtek HD driver, but that didn't seem to change anything. I'm open to suggestion. |

Carlos, When I went to do a system restore I suddenly found that it had been turned off, but I didn't do it. I had made an Acronis backup in May and I restored the system from that. The audio is now working correctly. I did find a several references on the internet and at Microsoft of which I tried several of the recommended solutions - none of them worked. It seems this happens quite a bit in both Vista x64 & x86 based on what I found and no one has found a definitive reason as to what triggers this. The clips were off CNN and they must be using Adobe since I was prompted to install the Adobe plug-in for I.E. Thanks for your input. I did check, but there was nothing to choose. I would presume it would be a wave file sent via internet since it was on-line video news clips, but don't know for sure.
