Sometimes Vista boots up alright on Dell Inspiron 9100 laptop. Other times,
only
dark screen. When I try again, Vista says Windows has had problem shutting
down and gives me options to re-start Windows. I choose "start windows
normally," and it usually works. Any suggestions or advice would be
appreciated.

Hi,

I'd speculate that you have an intermittant hardware fault. If it's still
under warranty, you should contact Dell. Otherwise, find a reputable
technician as you likely have a faulty component.
