Sinec inst windows LIVE mail, I have had problems which seem to involve Windows Mail (not'Live Mail') and asked MS Support if I should uninstall Windows Mail & rely on 'Live Mail or are they inter-dependent. Microsoft support ref me to MS Cust Service who couldn't advise & ref me to this site. One Problem is that when I scan docs with Canon MP610 & tCanon Navigator EX and then try to email using Nav Ex,, the Menu offers Windows Mail not 'Live Mail'as a sending option. Then, after selecting Windows Mail, , I get 2 Message windows saying 'Windows Mail' has stopped working etc" and 'Windows Live Mail has stopped working etc When I respond by clicking a 'close program' button ' on this window, my already open Live Mail program is closed down with the total loss of any msgs I'm writing at the time MS Cust Support just says "Windows Mail is come with Windows Vista and the support for Windows Mail is tied with Windows Vista". since I', talking to Tech Support & Customer Service for Windows Vista, why can't they reply. I'm using Vista Home which came with Windows Mail & I changed to "Live Mail' in response to an invite thru Windows Live something or other. If anyone can advise, I'd be ewternallt grateful if i live that long. |

This is a rather complex problem. Windows Mail can not be uninstalled since it is part of the Vista operating system. Canon is partly at fault because their driver is hard-wired for Windows Mail, so it doesn't even recognize the existence of Windows Live Mail. Check with Canon to see if they have a later driver, or consult their user forum to see if anyone there has come up with a solution. You can also consult the Vista newsgroup that deals with this type of problem: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?d= g=3Dmicrosoft.public.windows.vista.print_fax_scan =20 If all else fails, you may have to reset Windows Mail as your default = program. Let us know if you need help with that. --=20 Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "methuselah" <methuselah@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message = news:A0721018-0C94-4404-A939-D6A84FD3C04A@microsoft.com... > Sinec inst windows LIVE mail, I have had problems which seem to = involve=20 > Windows Mail (not'Live Mail') and asked MS Support if I should = uninstall=20 > Windows Mail & rely on 'Live Mail or are they inter-dependent. > Microsoft support ref me to MS Cust Service who couldn't advise & ref = me to=20 > this site. > One Problem is that when I scan docs with Canon MP610 & tCanon = Navigator EX=20 > and then try to email using Nav Ex,, the Menu offers Windows Mail not = 'Live=20 > Mail'as a sending option.=20 > Then, after selecting Windows Mail, , I get 2 Message windows saying=20 > 'Windows Mail' has stopped working etc" and 'Windows Live Mail has = stopped=20 > working etc =20 > When I respond by clicking a 'close program' button ' on this window, = my=20 > already open Live Mail program is closed down with the total loss of = any msgs=20 > I'm writing at the time > MS Cust Support just says "Windows Mail is come with Windows Vista and = the=20 > support for Windows Mail is tied with Windows Vista".=20 > since I', talking to Tech Support & Customer Service for Windows = Vista, why=20 > can't they reply. > I'm using Vista Home which came with Windows Mail & I changed to "Live = Mail'=20 > in response to an invite thru Windows Live something or other. > If anyone can advise, I'd be ewternallt grateful if i live that long. |
