My hubby has the Acer 6920G laptop and has the problem of the screen freezing
and then flickering during game play on it. Acer have said this is a gaming
machine wich an NVidia graphic card but it's a chip.

How do we get driver updates for the NVidia chip? NVidia says chips cannot
not be updated!

My hubby is threatening the throw the laptop and all games in the bin -
please help us.

Sincerely
Anne

Google "belarc advisor"

Download and run it.

Tell us what it says about your onboard video (Display section).

32-bit drivers were updated in June
64-bit drivers were updated in May

As for the refresh rate... you're stuck with that on a laptop screen.

The refresh rate on your screen is NOT a Vista thing, it's a hardware
thing.

>Can we format or return to factory specs? Or even change Vista to XP?

Won't change the refresh rate problem.

Sounds like a plan.

You might also try hooking up an external monitor. That would take
care of the refresh rate problem, if that is what's causing the
flicker.
