I know my processor is 64-bit capable But I don't know about the other hardware, and all I get from the manufacturer is a run around. Is there some sort of test software I can download from Microsoft that will let me know if Ultimate (64-bit) will run? I currently have Home Premium (32-bit) but need the access to over 3.5GB RAM that the 64-bit would provide... and figured, since I'm upgrading... may as well go for Ultimate at the same time. |

The simple answer is are there drivers for your hardware? If you don't have drivers, you're probably not going to be happy. And drivers are really the responsibility of the hardware mfg. Since you don't give us any information about your computer, it's really hard to provide any more details. -- Charlie. http://msmvps.com/blogs/xperts64 http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/charlie.russel "RichardInTN" <RichardInTN@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:491A14F9-938D-449D-82CA-7BBF9168BECC@microsoft.com... >I know my processor is 64-bit capable But I don't know about the other > hardware, and all I get from the manufacturer is a run around. You need to contact Dell about 64-bit drivers. Just going to the Dell Support web site there is no indication they are supplying 64-bit drivers. They only list 32-bit XP & Vista. If you can't find the necessary 64-bit drivers, you will have to look at alternate solutions.
