Hi, If you have a retail or generic OEM version of XP *and* the PC manufacturer will supply appropriate drivers for the hardware. Some do not, you'll need to ask. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Longing for XP" <Longing for XP@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0A2FA5B8-6EAC-46B2-9FC6-DC23084E9F58@microsoft.com... >I just purchased a new PC that has Vista installed . . . Do you mean install WinXP in a dual-boot with Vista scenario, within a virtual machine hosted upon Vista, or as a replacement for Vista? In the second case, the answer is "Yes." In the first and third cases, the answer is "It depends." Are there WinXP-specific device drivers available for all of the computer's internal components? If not, don't bother trying. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/555375 They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. ~Benjamin Franklin Many people would rather die than think; in fact, most do. ~Bertrand Russell The philosopher has never killed any priests, whereas the priest has killed a great many philosophers. ~ Denis Diderot |
