hello group, i have had my vista laptop for a year now, i desided to back up
some files not copy, but a back up of certain files. well i ran the built in
vista backup software, and it wanted to backup the whole of my C:\ drive, i
cant even choose what file i would like to back up, and i hear that NERO
wont install on vista, any idea's on how i can back up only the files i
want to backup, or a vista compatible backup/ burning software

The 'complete pc backup' is only available on vista business or ultimate
versions. If you are running another version than those stated, you can
only backup files. Nero 8 will install on vista but I would use the built
in backup if it is available to you on your version. If you don't have
those versions, then I would use symantec ghost 12. It works and I have had
success with it.

Nero runs fine on Vista. Older versions of Nero, however, are
incompatible.

I think Acronis TrueImage is the best backup product currently
available.
