I have a new HP, less than 2 months old, that has daily problems. The operating systems is Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I backed up the data on DVD using backup and restore center. After making that back up the bios of the machine was updated and then a full system recovery was done. The computer no longer recognizes the backup DVDs as coming from this computer. When i attempt to restore I have tried using backup from another computer. when I do so I can see the files I want to recover. However, when it comes time to recover the instructions ack for a backup disk dated the day prior to the day I did my backup. It reads the correct date on the DVD for the actual date of back up and then indicates this is not an appropriate file. At this point I would be happy with recovering only Word and Excel files. I have spent several hours with HP Chat people who keep telling me to simply use the Back Up and Restore Center by making selections that I remind them are not available to me because the computer does not recognize this as a backup from this machine. I would appreciate any assistance. 3-5 of the files are extremely important, and that is why I had backed them up. Thank you, T o m |
