With reference to the response by Janathan Kay:

It seems the the install .exe is not a windows installer where you can give
a /a option to direct it to a custom path.

If it is as easy as Jonathan said, then what about the registry foot prints;
do they not have to be changed?

OR does the latest Live messenger installer 8.5 allow to select the install
path?

Greetings Mike,

You can't force the Messenger MSI to do what you want I'm afraid. I've tried unsuccessfully
for awhile.

There's nothing in the registry that points to the actual executable that's of any importance
really.
