I purchased a laptop through Dell that had XP professional operating system
on it. They gave me the Windows Vista Business cd with the option to upgrade
or down grade my operating system. I upgraded to the vista business to find
out that a lot of the functions do not work such as the DVD player. I was
able to connect my laptop to the domain with out a problem. I purchased Vista
Ultimate so that i could have a fully fuctional laptop and now I can not
connect to the domain. This laptop did not have a problem connecting to the
domain before i upgraded my system to Vista Ultimate. I called Microsoft so
that someone could walk me through fixing the problem and they told me that i
needed to pay a fee in order to speak to a technichian even though you guys
sold me a product that does not work.

The error message I receive when I try to connect to the domain is an
attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has
failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that
can resolve DNS names in the target domain.

I am not sure what this error message means, but can someone please email me
back with a solution to this problem.

Thank You,
Linda Carr
