I do a manual backup each week of all my data files (Roxio and Vista automated backups haven't worked for me). I use the Advanced Search function to select indexed files that have been created or modified within the past week. Unfortunately, Vista selectively overlooks some of my document files that I've changed within that time frame. I've read the KB article on problems with searching, and none of it applies to me: I've carefully checked the offending files and they are indeed indexed and I have permission to access them, and their properties are the same as those of other files that do come up in the search results. Also, each week different files get overlooked and ones that were missed the week before are now being picked up in the search. I'm totally mystified and very frustrated. I'm having to go through folder by folder looking for files that have been changed if I want all to be backed up. Having found that both Vista and Roxio's automated backup systems don't work consistently, I'm reluctant to buy some other software that purports to do backups. Does anyone know whats going on? |
