Help! My Vs2008 prof installation has a problem in the
Tools->Options->Environment->Help->
every time I try to change the radio button to one of the other selections
local first, then online and save it, then go back in, the button goes back
to local only.

I also installed the Vs2008 Beta 1 Service Pack. Besides doing a repair,
which is likely to screw up the service pack, is there any other way of
fixing this???

Thanks,

Phil

Hi Phil. I've seen this behavior as well, and I think I know what's causing
it.
The first time the Help system attempts retrieve online content, it should
present a dialog titled 'Online Help Settings'.

This dialog presents three options, same as Tools -> Options ->
Environment -> Help -> Online. Once you click the OK button on this
dialog, the Help system should be able to access online content
(assuming you selected one of the options that includes Internet access).

From what I can, while your Tools -> Options selection is reflected in
the corresponding registry entries, it isn't reflected in the Options UI
until the 'Online Help Settings' dialog has been displayed and agreed
to. You should be able to force the dialog to appear by:

1) Selecting either 'Try online first, then local' or 'Try local first, then
online' and then
2) Highlighting any keyword in a source code file and hitting the F1 key

Please let me know if this does the trick.

Cheers,
