It's not just me. Their forums have several people with the same issues as
myself.

I have a GeForce 7800 GTX, and yes, the site is still showing the 169.25
version.
But I downloaded the 175.16 version and installed it.
Works just fine.

Same here, and so far no problems. I read that Nvidia is suggesting series
6 and 7 owners to use the December drivers even though the new driver should
work for the older cards.

I also received the error using the NVidia setup program that the drivers
were not for my 7800GS. I got them to install anyway by going to the Display
Driver in Device Manager and pointing to the directory where the NVidia
setup program extracted the driver files.

I tried that route and it gave the same problem in Vista. In XP they
installed OK but I had to rollback as the screen had a "washed-out" look.
I'll stick with the tried and true December drivers.

The new NVIDIA drivers have more ability for you to set color and related
settings then the older ones. Therefore you may need to evaluate all of the
different setting options now available in the new Nvidia control panel.

Nice drivers..... Too bad they don't offer 1920X1200 as a resolution for
my monitor. I went back to 175.63 beta drivers that DO offer 1920X1200.
Native resolution looks much better than 1680X1050 which is as high as
the 175.16's go.

I had no problem installing the new drivers after being offered them under
Option 2 of NVidia.
I am using GE7300GT in Vista Ultimate SP1.

Yes, I discovered that all I had to do was reduce the gamma. I still
cannot get them to install in Vista...weird, even fails when I replace the
inst.inf file..
There's a couple of ongoing discussions in the nvidia Geforce forum.

Just tell NVIDIA you want the driver for a 8500 for example and then it
will down the load the correct driver installation file. there are not
different installation files based on the card you have just different
installation files for the different OS releases.

I just heard from the horse's mouth. The US release for Vista (available
only using step 2 at the download page) is missing a few inf files for
certain boards, so the UK release is OK. The US one should be released
sometime today, hopefully.

Do you have dual monitor setup by chance?
I have an 8600GT and I lose nvidia video overlay
controls for videos. The controls are there (contrast
Brightness Saturation, etc) but have no effect.

Yes, I have a 17" Planar and a 19" Gateway LCD monitors.
The display desktop color settings work ok.
And the video and tv color settings seem to work ok, but I leave it set to
use the video player settings.
