Hi, I'm having an old computer (compaq 500Mhz, 382mb) and the only things running are Xp, WLM 8.1 and mcAfee. Together with a Logitec 3000 pro (usb1) cam. Up&p is enabled in modem. Thing is that when i use the mic on the webcam during videochat, the sound is quiet clear. however when i use the mic. from the headset, the sound is nearly not hearable for the other party. Increase all the volume options for the mic, gave no better result. Just want to know, is this a knowned issue? One more thing: if both parties enabled Up&p, is it possible to "see" if there is a direct connection between the computers? (Thus, no relay-server in between?) Somtimes the sound is deleyed or repeated, so i just like to know for sure if there is a direct connection or not. Thanks for the reply in advance. heian |

Hi, Well, in fairness, audio & video together will probably use up all the standard bandwidth allotted on USB1 controller. For instance, I've used USB speakers and a USB webcam (two separate devices) for quite a long time, and prior to USB2, I had to keep both of them on separate USB controllers or they would just not work properly (due to bandwidth constraints). Maybe on your old PC, you had less things on a particular USB controller than now? Mice, keyboards, etc. all use bandwidth too... Anyway, just thinking aloud. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "heian" <Siam@fakemail.th> wrote in message news:4828c147$0$6006$ba620dc5@text.nova.planet.nl... > Hi again, > > Thanks for the (always) great replies Jonathan ! > > I think i got an interesting point, didn't find it on any forum yet...... > > On a 1,7 Mhz computer, with a PCI USB 2.0 card, i connected two webcams at the same time. > One webcam (logitech 3000 pro usb 1 and the other Logitech quickcam messenger usb 2 ) > > what i noticed that in a chat, with the same person, the sound from the usb1 webcam was > very poor.
