Yesterday, I purposely left notebook turned on and did not use it for about 15 minutes. When I went to Control Panel/Backup and Restore Center and then clicked on Restore Files, it stated: There are no backups available on this computer. If I am not mistaken, automatic Backups/Restore Points are created when Critical Updates are downloaded, which I did a few days ago. Very confusing indeed. (Must go out now.) |

Hi Alice, You are confusing System Restore points with backup points. SR points are often created before a critical update is installed. Backup points are generated on demand by the user. The former (SR) is a system protection mechanism, the latter a means of backing up user data. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "AliceZ" <AliceZ@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:29044289-116A-40AC-88CD-92CBC1E3D046@microsoft.com... > Yesterday, I purposely left notebook turned on and did not use it for > about > 15 minutes.
