Did any one know why the Windows Live Messenger settings are not the same on different computers (e.g. home PC and work PC), settings like displayed picture, background, winks and emoticons (installed on a computers can't be found on the other one, like in Yahoo! Messenger), etc? By the way, why displayed pictures on Yahoo! Messenger accounts are not displayed at all in Windows Live Messenger (you just can't see them)? Where are all the buttons from the message window, buttons like voice call, etc? Thank you very much Laurian |

Greetings Luarian, The basic settings in Messenger are stored in the registry and the winks/emoticons/etc are stored in your Windows user account. As such, they're not stored on the server and exist only on your own PC. You can actually copy these over to other PCs if you'd like -- but you have to do this on your own. On the plus side, your current display picture is stored on the server and "roams" to other computer's assuming they're using the latest versions of Messenger. Functionality between Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo Messenger is limited to text only -- file transfer, display pictures, etc. aren't supported. -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2008 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Laurian COADA" <lauriancoada@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:2FAF2D05-49F0-4F8D-B53C-28245003AAB2@microsoft.com... > Did any one know why the Windows Live Messenger settings are not the same on different > computers (e.g. home PC and work PC), settings like displayed picture, background, winks > and emoticons (installed on a computers can't be found on the other one, like in Yahoo! > Messenger), etc? > > By the way, why displayed pictures on Yahoo!
