A few weeks ago I've noticed that when waking my computer up it no longer regains connection to the internet. The Network icon in the lower right corner says "Local and Internet", yet neither Internet Explorer or Firefox will go to a website. This is on my desktop computer running Vista x64 Ultimate. It is also running the SP1 beta, but it has been installed since it was released. My laptop is running Vista Home Premium and it finds the Internet just fine upon waking up, so I know it is not a problem with my router, modem, or cable service provider. I've chosen "Diagnose and Repair" but it doesn't find any issues. Unplugging and replugging the Ethernet cable from the computer does not help either. I've even went as far as disabling the ethernet and re-enabling it to see if it regains connection, but with no luck. I've also changed my power settings to never turn the monitor or computer off, thinking maybe the sleep and hibernate mode was causing it to go crazy. Even by changing these settings, it still loses connection. The only solution I've found is that I have to restart the computer. Upon restart, it will go to a website. What could be causing this? It's odd that the computer thinks it's connected to the internet, but nothing is coming in. Please let me know what I can do to alleviate this problem, as it's a pain having to restart the computer everytime I sit down at the desk. |

HI Try to uncheck the power saving of the Network Card. It should be in the TCP/IP properties. http://www.ezlan.net/example/powersave.jpg Jack (MVP-Networking).
