Hi,
I've got a version 2008 solution but have 2005 installed here, is
there an easy way to open/convert the file(s) with 2005?
ciao, Igor

This is a comment I found in Google Groups that may be helpful:

The solution file format has been changed in VS2008. However, for the
project files you can indeed open between VS2008 and VS2005:

#adamga's WebLog : VS2008 opening VS2005 Project/Solution Files...
http://blogs.msdn.com/adamga/archive/2007/11/20/vs2008-opening-vs2005...

Hope this helps.

From what Walter said, I'd try creating a new VS 2005 solution of the
applicable type, then copying the existing VS 2008 project(s) into it.

Hi, thanks for your reponse!
that looks very interesting, one problem is that at this office we're
still using win2k (yeah I know...) which is also
the reason I'm using 2005 instead of 2008 which I had been using
before. Because of that I don't think I have the necessary clr
versions to run the vb or cs versions but I'll give it a go.
regards,
Igor

gave it a try but it didn't work... I've manually recreated the
project using 2005. Hard to believe that ms didn't implement some
means of converting back and forward between the versions. Now, each
time someone touches a 2005 project with 2008 it can't be undone,
pretty stupid situation.

Forward (2005->2008) yes, backward, no. This is not a Visual Studio thing,
nor is it a Microsoft thing. It's pretty much an industry-wide practice.
Check out Borland and Sun products they work (or, don't) the same way.
