All - In process explorer I am seeing a large number of hardware interrupts on a system. What is the recommended way to troubleshoot which hardware is causing the interrupts? Also, although a silly questions, can processes contribute to the overall hardware interrupts? Thank you... |

Right click and select 'Properties'. Also if you have an NVIDIA GForce 6800 card some versions of this card are known to cause a large number of interrupts. In Process Explorer: Click on the entry named: Interrupts Then you would Right-Click and select Properties. Since my PC does not suffer from a large number I can't not give any additional help. I tried creating some interrupts but had no luck as to what was displayed on the properties screen. Tried searching for additional utilities but could not find one. Ok I tried it on my system that was experiencing interrupts but still saw nothing. Perhaps I need the debugging tools and symbols installed? I don't think there is a way to see which device generates all the interrupts. There is a program that tells you how much latency there is in the interrupts - not too helpful. They tell you to disable devices or their drivers until you find the cause. It would be nice if MS would provide a debugging tool for finding interrupt spammers. What process do you normally go through to troubleshoot? These type of problems seem impossible, especially since both hardware/software can contribute to the overall Hardware Interrupt value, right? Software does not create hardware interrupts without mucking up some hardware device. First, get a CATC or equivalent and see what is happening on the buss.
