I'm having a heck of a time trying to install Vista build 5270 on my Dell Inspiron laptop. The machine has the following characteristics: - 3.04 GHz, 2 GB memory, 60 GB 7200 rpm drive So, this should be plenty of horsepower. I have tried the following scenarios [using the ISO image from the MSDN subscriber downloads]: - ISO burned to DVD, booting from DVD [both connected to the net and disconnected] - same DVD, but running from within XP - same ISO, mounted using the XP virtual CD persistent mount They all end up either hung [for hours] on the Completing Installation screen, or they come up with a message "Install is taking longer than expected, but will complete soon..." - which it never does. One thing with my laptop, even when installing XP Pro, I have to manually install the Dell device drivers for the Broadcom 440 network and NVidia display. Could this be why the install is hanging? How long should this take? And, if anyone knows what might be the problem, I'd love some recommendations [that I haven't already tried].
