Exactly. Since all our jobs are being outsourced - just like everywhere else to China (& India) ... so thus completing the circle of this thread. :-) .... sorry just had to get that one in :-) Seriously though, the Winternals acquisition by Microsoft has been a good move on Microsoft's part. They've had a number of very useful tools for Administrators, Tech-savy users, and general users alike which weren't available before-hand through an "approved" route. Not too long ago also, LearnVisualStudio.NET, was acquired/drawn in by Microsoft to plug a gap in their portfolio. They provided a visual service to help people learn how to use Microsoft's .Net programming platform and actually did a better job at this than MicroSoft :-o I reckon now we're in a period when New Technology itself encourages new businesses to surface and fill in the smaller gaps left by those larger companies for whom those areas aren't worth filling - Specialist things such as training/entertainment & services... (be whatever they be), and other things spring to mind, seeing Microsoft as an enabler of technological advancement could be one way of viewing this. This, is... perhaps the future for us, forcing the individual(s) to take on the onus of the innovative R&D effort and producing viable solutions that returns money, which at a later date larger companies, take note, and buys those "solution companies" out. So as the innovative owners you retire happy :-) hopefully... Innovation is key to survival.
