This is the error message I get when I start up my computer. It gets past the first options screen (press F12 to bot from network etc), then it asks me what mode I want to boot in, then any one I click on it loads XP Home for 2 seconds then an error screen comes up (the error code above) it does not reboot the computer it just leaves the blue screen up and does nothing. I understand I have to bypass the hard drive to get back into windows to run chkdsk, and I also understand the problem is something to do with ntfs.sys, but I have no floppy drive so those 6 floppys have already gone out of the window. I guess the question is what do I do now next? |

We had to get it fixed because it had my fiancee's near-finished thesis on it. So we brought it to a pro. It took him 2 hours but he said it was a fairly common problem too. It was about 60 bucks to fix here in Poland. I don't know if that's cheap because everything's cheap here, or expensive because it's a specialist job but that's what we paid. Best of luck, and hopefully someone will figure out a simple solution one day. -- Chochi |
