Apologies, I know this is the wrong forum, but I don't what whats the right one. And I am honestly less than impressed... Bug report.. I figured I would bite the bullet and see what RC2 was about under a 64bit AMD system. Initially it looked rather interesting and I realize it is beta... but why make changes to my original system? This was the proverbial "clean install" to a new 300gb SATA drive away from my normal boot drive. Now when I play older style DirectX games on my MAIN boot (XP Pro SP2) the video freezes up, the system hangs and will sometimes auto reboot and sometimes I have to press the reset button. When it does reboot, an error report is sent to Microsoft which comes back and indicates that a STOP message was received in the video drivers. So ok.. video card got glitched. I took it back, got a brand new one (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, not a low end cheap card) and installed it, loaded up only the video drivers, ran the game... and once again the freezes and error messages. Looking at various log files, it appears the the Vista install has for whatever reason installed freaking beta DX files. On my main system? My main system wasn't supposed to be touched! WTH!!!! No other updates were done, no other software was installed, I never auto-update anything, there were no hardware changes... I'm so frustrated at this moment. Why this install tampered with my current system, updated logs on my main boot drive for DirectX... *sighs*. So tell me... what is the way to uninstall Vista so I can get my system back to normal. |
